Board of Directors
The Board of Directors are elected by the Voters at the annual meeting. There are nine directors. They set the policies of the church during the year, act for the congregation, set the course for the future of the church, advise the Senior Pastor, and answer to the congregation.
The Board is made up of the Chairman, the Vice-Chairman, the Secretary, and six directors. They meet every month with the Senior Pastor. They serve for two years and can be reelected for an additional two years.
They work following the Constitution, the By-Laws, and a Governance Policy. Our constitution and by-laws define who is eligible to be pastors, members, and board members and how they are selected. A board governance policy describes how they are to carry out their responsibilities and their limitations. It defines the relationship between the Senior Pastor, the Staff, the Board and the Congregation members. The governance policy is the guidance for developing and achieving the goals in the strategic plan, which is set every year.
Resurrection Lutheran Church has been using the Board of Directors concept for about ten years and has just finished putting the Governance Policy concept into action.
