LAFF (Life After Fifty Fellowship) Event
Friday, September 2, 2016
“Phantom” at Owen Theater in Conroe. Owen Theater has luxurious seating and is truly one of the most comfortable theaters ever with plenty of room between the rows so very easy to pass through. “Phantom” was first performed in 1991 by Theater Under the Stars in Houston. Since then, there have been over 1000 productions of this show all over the world. Erik (the Phantom) lives in the catacombs under the opera house and cannot live without beautiful music. Because he has a horrendously disfigured face, a mask always covers his face. He falls in love with a street singer (Christine) with the loveliest voice he has ever heard. He becomes her teacher and his efforts to promote her lead to all kinds of trouble and revelations about who Erik really is. Throughout the production, we are treated to beautiful music. Cost is $18/each ($17 ticket and $1 for bus driver’s meal). Leave RLC Parking lot at 5:30pm. Meal stop at your expense enroute to theater.

Saturday Men's Bible Study Saturday Mornings starting with a new study on September 10th
All men are welcome to join us. Please feel free to bring someone along, and bring your favorite morning drink. We always have some interesting discussion, usually have some type of breakfast fast food available, along with good fellowship and nourishment on the Word of God.
Our Saturday Men’s Bible Study resumes on Saturday, September 10th at 7:30am in the Conference Room. All men are invited—bring a friend!
Our initial study will be “We the People: Citizens of Two Kingdoms.” In this study Concordia Seminary President Dale Meyer surveys the emergence of the United States’ governmental system by considering the religious and philosophic thinking that shaped its early development. In this Bible Study’s three sessions, pertinent questions are raised that help us understand the demanding balance between church and state.
Politics and religion often separate people in sharp and defining ways, dividing a country along shifting lines. Yet, no matter what one’s perspective is, for the Christian his or her citizenship is an opportunity to serve both the affairs of earthly government and the mission of the Christian church on earth, from Martin Luther’s understanding of “Two Kingdoms.”
Along the way, concepts like “ceremonial deism,” “democracy,” “theocracy,” “republic,” Luther’s “Two Kingdoms” and more will be explored. Provocative study guide questions, supplemental video, and numerous “Digging Deeper” Internet links make this Bible study a sure-fire way to raise the consciousness and enthusiasm toward the political process.
With presidential elections coming up soon, this is a timely opportunity to start this Telly Award-winning Bible study with our men’s group.
Bring your own morning drink and join us for this enlightening—and timely—study.
See you on September 10th.

We will begin a brand-new, just released Beth Moore study, “entrusted.” We were never meant to take this journey of faith alone or in secret. God has entrusted us with the great and mighty gift of the gospel, something too precious and life-giving to keep to ourselves. In this 6-session Bible study, Beth will encourage you to guard what God has entrusted to you, further His kingdom by sharing Christ with others, and pour into future generations just as Paul once mentored Timothy. Because in this journey of joy and hardship, we need each other to stay the course and live lives of faithfulness.

We will begin a study entitled, “Idol Lies” by Dee Brestin.
Deep down, every woman longs for security, happiness, and love. Yet most women settle for weak substitutes like control, materialism, sex, and food. In Idol Lies, Dee explores the hidden idols that destroy a woman’s heart. Using biblical examples as well as her own personal experiences and those of other women, she helps readers move past their cravings to understand—and receive—what they’re really hungering for: an intimate, secure, life-changing intimacy with the True Lover of a woman’s soul. When Jesus is actively and practically fulfilling a woman’s deepest needs day after day, hour by hour, not only does freedom await, but the gifts of sex, acceptance, material things, and ambition become good gifts rather than dream destroyers.
