Interfaith Homeless Network Donations Needed
Sundays, June 5th and 12th

Our rotation for helping a homeless family through IHN (Interfaith Homeless Network) is upon us. We are responsible for one family and providing them with their needs to transition from homelessness to home living! Below is a short profile and a list of their physical needs. As always, prayer for them is first and foremost and we ask that our church family prays for them!

Our family is a single mom 2 kids (male ages 8 and 11), recently approved for her new apartment. The boys are doing well in school in spite of their homeless situation. The family needs cups, bowls (cereal), mixing bowls, 2 shower curtains and hooks, mop & bucket, sponges, toilet bowl brush, trash can (13 gallon), dish rack (for drying dishes), can opener, crock pot, kitchen storage containers.

As specific items are requested, we ask that you please contact Barb Schwarz at bjsrmt@sbcglobal.net or 713-253-7783 to coordinate what items you would like to donate. They certainly don’t need 10 shower curtains or toilet bowl brushes!

Life After Fifty Fellowship Event
Friday, July 22nd

“Footloose” at Stageworks Theater (formerly Houston Family Arts Center). Remember the dancing and the plot? A big-city teenager in competition with a Midwestern town minister wreaks havoc on a quiet southern town that abhors rock music and dancing. When the Chicago-born teen calls for a rock ‘n’ roll prom and the cultural revitalization of a repressed town, a fast-paced musical drama ensues. Dinner first at your expense at your choice of restaurant in Willowbrook area. Cost is $21/each ($20 ticket and $1 for bus driver’s meal).  Leave RLC Parking lot at 5:15pm. Seats are reserved but need to be paid by Friday, July 8th so please sign up ASAP! For info, call Carolyn Pali at 281-355-0090. Get a flyer in the Information Center.

Join us for this close look at religious freedom in the United States.

Religious freedom in America has been an issue of paramount importance since th founding of this great nation. As the nation has grown and changed, so has the relationship of the federal government with the many religions that comprise the community of faith throughout the land.
This Bible study examines this vital relationship to see what’s working well and how we can improve the rough spots at the intersection of church and state.

All men are welcome to join us at 7:30 – 9:00 AM in the Conference Room. Please feel free to bring someone along, and bring your favorite morning drink.
