2010 Men's Retreat

October 15-17, 2010

Camp Lone Star, LaGrange, TX

"MAN AS SPIRITUAL LEADER"

Presented by
Richard P. Cohrs

Lutheran Hour Ministries

“Men, you are the most important earthly influence for your family. Men of today have increasingly given away their responsibility for family faith development. It’s time to step up and recapture your God-given place in the family and the community. Receive practical tools and suggestions to be the man God would have you be in today’s world”.

A time to learn, unwind and really relax with other Christian men in this quiet country setting on the Colorado River.

Our presenter this year is Rich Cohrs. Rich is the Manager of District and Congregation Relations for Lutheran Hour Ministries, living in the St. Louis, MO area. Rich had served as a Principal and Teacher in various institutions in Michigan, Texas, and Illinois and has also served as Manager of North America Volunteer Services for LHM.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEKEND:

·   Golf Outing on Friday morning before the Retreat.
·   Our Friday Night Cook-Out is always a treat! Rey Casiano and team love to cook and provide a tasty meal on Friday night.
·   Saturday afternoon Recreation time is a time to play together: archery, tomahawk throw, horseshoes, ping pong, disc golf, shooting hoops, paddling on the lake (and possibly on the river). It’s a great time to visit and get to know one another.
·   Our Sessions have always been meaningful and provide good spiritual discussion and growth. This year we will be encouraged to take seriously our role as godly men in our families and society.
·   Quiet Time with God is always possible at Camp Lone Star—what a nice setting!
·   Worship with Communion on Sunday morning always ties together the weekend and prepares us for our trip home.

Directions to
Camp Lone Star
Please refer to a Texas highway map to determine the best route to La Grange. Camp Lone Star Road intersects US Highway 77 from the east approximately 1500 ft. south of the La Grange city limits (the Colorado River forms the city limits on the south side) just south of the bridge.. The camp is approximately two miles off Highway 77, at the end of Camp Lone Star Road.

Out of Houston, you can take I-10 west to Columbus and there you pick up Hwy 71. There will be a big sign which will show
La Grange and Austin. Then about 30 miles down Hwy 71, you will take the first La Grange exit which will be Business Hwy 71. It will intersect with Hwy 77, turn left. Cross the Colorado River Bridge and turn left immediately on the other side of the bridge onto Camp Lone Star Road.

From Spring, take Hwy 290 through Brenham toward Austin. Just past Burton take a left (from left lane) onto Hwy 237 toward Round Top and LaGrange. Hwy 237 joins with Hwy 159 and intersects in LaGrange with Hwy 71. Turn right onto Hwy 71, take it into town and turn left onto Hwy 77 at the traffic light. Take it through LaGrange, cross the Colorado River Bridge and turn left immediately on the other side of the bridge onto Camp Lone Star Road.

You can also take Hwy 290 through Brenham to Giddings, turn left (south) onto Hwy 77. Take it through La Grange, cross the Colorado River Bridge and turn left immediately on the other side of the bridge onto Camp Lone Star Road.

CAMP  LONE  STAR  ROAD
Follow it to the end, enter the camp, and watch for the Johnson Retreat Center Parking Lot on the left. Walk down the hill into the back of the Retreat Center and check in!
