What is a Confessional Church?
The marks of a true visible church congregation are that the Gospel is preached and taught in all its purity and that the Sacraments are administered as prescribed by Christ. The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod submits to Scripture as the sole source and norm of all its teachings, and therefore recognizes no other authority for the determination of the truth of its theology than the very Word of God. The answer to the all important question of “What does God say in His Holy Scriptures?” is determined by gathering all the Scripture passages that speak to a particular doctrine or subject matter, and then, letting Scripture interpret Scripture, submitting to the clear and plain language inspired by God. Confessions and creeds are then not a supplement to God’s Word, or even an explanation of His Word, but an example of what God says, guiding and assisting the church to provide a clear witness to the truth, but also a clear refuting of falsehoods. A confessional church is therefore one that sets forth its doctrines in writing, and tests all teaching and practices by that measure for all the world to see and hear.
Where do I park?: On your first visit, we have special, front row parking saved just for you on the west side of the building.
How will I know where to go?: You will most likely be greeted by someone from our friendly CARE Ministry team as you enter the building. They will guide you and assist you in finding the nursery, your Sunday School class, etc.
Are Children, Youth and Adult Sunday School/Bible Study Classes offered?: Immediately after the first service is our Sunday School/Bible Study at 9:45. Classes from 2 years old through adults are offered on a variety of subjects.
Is there something for children?: We have loving caregivers for infants and dedicated teachers and ministry programs for toddlers through 5th grade. Parents of infants are given a pager so they can relax with confidence during any of our services.
Is there something for youth?: Middle School / High School: Worship and teaching is offered at 9:45am in the youth group rooms (Jr. High in the Fellowship Building near the Youth Room stairs; Sr. High upstairs in the Youth Room)
How do I dress?: Feel free to dress however you are comfortable.
How many Worship Services do you have?: On Sundays, we offer two services and a Sunday School/Bible Study. The first service, at 8:15, is a more traditional Lutheran service, featuring traditional hymns and liturgy, led by the choir and organ. The late service, at 11:00, is a contemporary service that offers upbeat music and a less liturgical service, led by the Praise Team. Participate however you like.
What kind of message will I hear?: We love using the Bible as our “textbook for life.” You can expect practical, relevant, insightful messages from our Pastors.
Is there an offering taken?: We take a weekly offering for our church family to give their tithes and offerings. Our guests should feel no obligation to participate.
What happens after I visit a Service?: When you attend for the first time and fill out one of our guest cards, you can expect to be contacted by the Pastor the next week to discus the experience with you, answer any questions you may have, and invite you back.
