Bible Overview Begins In January

Posted: November 6, 2008

DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! Do you know that the average Christian has at best an 8th grade understanding of the Bible? No matter where you are in your knowledge of Scripture, you will appreciate this Bible Overview course. It will help grow you to an adult understanding of God’s Word.

Key concepts of Scripture run the length of the Bible and this course will identify them and take you through the Word adding a greater understanding and depth for your future Bible studies.

The Bethel Bible Series Overview will begin a new class on Wednesday, January 7th at 7:00-8:30pm. This course will cover the entire Bible in six 7-week units over two years. The six units begin in January, the Wednesday following Easter, and the Wednesday following Labor Day. The first year covers the Old Testament and the second year covers the New Testament. At the end of the Old Testament a four-week Between the Testaments unit is offered which covers the 400 years between the last writing of the Old Testament and the accounts of Jesus’ life (Gospels) in the New Testament. Since each session builds on previous sessions, it is important to begin with the first week. If you’re concerned about missing some sessions, please speak with Pastor Ric. Please sign up before December 1st.

Pastor Ric will teach this class and is interested in hearing from you right away so that materials can be ordered and on-hand for the Introduction session on January 7th. Please sign up here, at the Information Center, or at the Receptionist at the church office. Please provide contact information.

Here’s what some of those who’ve completed the course have said:
+ “I had never been interested in studying ‘Bible concepts.’ That has changed with my participation as a student in the Bethel Bible classes… [The] lectures and related studies in the Old Testament have opened to me a better understanding of the history of God’s redemptive plan and His faithfulness even as His chosen people repeatedly are unfaithful…”
+ “Anyone who has tried to read the Old Testaent on their own has probably found it a daunting task! …Bethel is a wonderful way to really learn something from and about the Word of the Lord. The connection with the Gospel is awesome! You will also see the faithfulness of God throughout creation and find out that the Old Testament is just as relevant today as it ever was.”
+ “…I now have a greater love of both the Old and New Testaments.”
+ “…Definitely time well spent. I want to do it again!”
+ “The information and knowledge you receive is so much more than when reading alone. So many questions about stories or questions you may have long had can be answered or at least enlightened. And the camarderie that develops with classmates is both enjoyable and helpful when in future activities at the church.”
+ “It is enlightening. It keeps you in the Word. It makes you realize God’s love for us and how we should return that love in our daily living.”
+ “If you haven’t read the Bible or if it’s been a while it will certainly come alive through the Holy Spirit.”
+ “It develops a good ground work and understanding to base your further learning on. Two hours a week is not a hard thing to commit to. The reading lessons are really not that hard because it’s broken down. You get to meet new people and make friends!”
